This weekend was my niece's first birthday party. We were all outside because the weather was nice. We started off with playing Duck Duck Goose but realized it was lame with 2 three year olds and only two adults. We decided tag would be fun so we picked who was it and began.
By my sister's new place there is a little grassy area with quite a few trees scattered around. I got tagged and proceeded to chase Riley and Chris. Chris, being the competitive guy he is, took off like a shot with Riley in tow. I diverted my attention to an easier target when I turn around as Chris is yelling "head injury!!" and he is dripping blood all over his face. No one knew how bad it was so we brought him inside and started mopping up the mess. Before we left Riley kept saying "Dada got blood" to anyone who would listen and kept saying it for the next few days. My mom, Chris, Riley and I left then so we could get home to get some medical advice.
Chris not being insured presented a problem. Thankfully our old bishop works at the hospital and is a great doctor. We called him as soon as we got in the car and much to our dismay he was out of town doing a youth conference or something like that. So we called the next best guy we knew. Another guy from church (thank goodness for the church!!!) who is a resident at the hospital. He told us we could stop by and he would take a look. He and his friend (who was also a doctor) thought he could use a stitch or two but because we weren't insured it would probably be fine.
Chris is healing just fine and now Ruby will have a funny story to tell about her first birthday. I just hope Matt got some good pics for the scrapbook.
As for the scrapped knee... today it was actually warm enough to wear shorts so Riley was sporting his new shorts we just got from Old Navy. We were playing outside and he was running, fell and scraped his knee. I think it was one of the first times he has bled from a cut so he was pretty upset. I brought him inside and brought him to Chris so I could get something to clean the cut and the first thing Chris says to comfort him was: "Look! Riley got blood too, just like Dada!". It didn't comfort like Chris thought it might, but it was still pretty funny.
I hope Riley gets tougher because I am SURE this will not be the last time we see his blood because of a fall or accident. :)

Poor Riley! I can still hear him saying "dada got blood!" with the most serious look on his face! That kid cracks me up!
Yesterday was Vi's first day of shorts and she managed to scrape both knees and get a splinter in her hand. Aw, cuzzies.
